Pantone’s 2015 ‘Color of the year’

by

Introducing…Marsala

Year after year, color enthusiast look to Pantone to release their color of the year. Their 2015 pick has been named and that color is Marsala. Panton describes it as “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”

Now we LOVE a rich red or purple and Marsala does not disappoint. We love the earthiness and its full bodied rich mix of red and brown tones. It is very pleasing to the eye and can certainly be used as a bold accent color for your wedding or event. Bridesmaids dresses, the Bride’s shoes, lips and nails as well as the folder for invitations would go very well especially for a fall/winter wedding. It’s warm tones will draw guests in and make them feel cozy.

Wedding Inspiration from Disney’s Frozen

I know I m late to the party but my daughter and I finally watched Disney’s “Frozen” a few days ago. I wasn’t sure if I would like the movie because to be honest, if I heard “Let it snow” one more time I thought I would scream. But we both thoroughly enjoyed it and by the end of the movie I was a bit teary eye. LOVE the theme of unconditional love, especially that of family. Now being a wedding and event planner, I was most mesmerized by the part of the movie where, after running away, Elsa creates her ice castle and dress. I could totally imagine a wedding taking place in there with its large stair case and open floor plan. Yes, we are still talking about an animated movie but it inspired me to create something frozen.

While doing a bit of research to curate some of my favorite frosted ideas, I came across this totally gorgeous Winter Wonderland styled shoot on Elegant Weddings Magazine’s website. There is a great amount of inspiration for your “Frozen”, Ice Queen or Winter Wonderland wedding.

What is that…velvet?

Velvet tuxedo jackets

So the Grammys were on last night and I fell in love with a few of the artists’ fashion choices. For music’s biggest night, we were most excited about the men, who clearly out-did themselves this year. A few of our favorites all had one thing in common…Velvet. Not the same old same old black velvet but in various and beautiful hues of color. Purple, dark blue, cobalt blue and green were suavely on display last night.

2014 Grammys clockwise – Robin Thicke in dark blue, Macklemore in teal green, Anthony Hamilton in Cobalt, Nelly in dark blue and LL Cool J in purple velvet.

All of the gentlemen look dapper in their velvet tuxedo jackets. I am quite partial to Anthony Hamilton’s cobalt blue shawl collar tuxedo but loved how regal LL Cool J’s purple looked on him as well. A tuxedo with a velvet jacket is a great choice for any cool-weather wedding or event. It is extremely elegant, adds texture to the overall look and the color is a bit more pronounced. I would love to see a groom standing at the alter in one of these. I mean, how gorgeous are these guys? They all made my list for Best Dressed at The Grammys.
